Dear Dad

Dear Dad by Ajtun

This piece was spray painted 4 months after my father past away. It was a mural that needed to be created. Grief has been an emotion that I have come to accept and acknowledge. It was not easy at first, bc I was simply in shock, just going through the motions and not the emotions. When i finally sat down with my grief i rode the emotions like a roller coaster. I had some normal days and then things would just drop. My lows lasted for weeks at a time. Aware of the pattern i began to figure out ways to stabilize my grief and not be ashamed of it. Art and writing have helped my process and continue to keep me steady.
